COVID 19 Online Retail Scheme by Enterprise Ireland

This is a competitive fund administered by Enterprise Ireland on behalf of DBEI with a total fund size of €2m. Applications are now open.

Successful applicants will be awarded funding to support a maximum of 80% of the project eligible costs with a maximum grant of €40,000 to cover research, consultancy costs and training with a view to developing a sophisticated and transactional online presence.

Eligibility Criteria

Must be/have:

  • Irish-owned retail enterprise
  • 10 or more employees on or before 29th February
  • Potential to sustain or create jobs
  • Potential to generate growth in online transactions
  • Ambition to internationalise the business in the future
  • Have an existing online presence (website or social media)
  • Have a retail outlet which generates the majority of your revenue
  • Project must have a minimum value of €12,500 of which a max of €10,000 will be covered by the grant

Eligible Activities

Research

  • In-depth analysis of the company’s current and potential online presence and capabilities, target audience and brand.

Strategy Development

  • Development of a writed digital strategy and roadmap for implementation
  • Identifying how the company’s value proposition should be demonstrated online
  • Ensuring that the company’s online presence is being fully utilised/ optimised.
  • Consideration of omnichannel offering (including marketplaces and social media).

Implementation

  • Optimising the company’s online presence to ensure domestic and international visibility
  • Enhancing related “back end” systems such as CMS.

Eligible Costs Include

  • Salary of a senior inhouse project champion (Max €1000 per week for max of 25 weeks)
  • Fees for established external provider(s) to develop digital strategy (Max €900 per day per firm, regardless of number of employees engaged with the project)
  • Fees for established external provider(s) to further develop/enhance the company’s transactional website or online presence. Must add additional functionality. (Max €900 per day per firm, regardless of number of employees engaged with the project)
  • Training to enable the business to maintain a robust online presence ie. CMS, eMarketing, e-commerce systems, SEO etc.

What is not covered?

  • Upgrades to existing online channels that would happen anyway or would be considered business as usual
  • Purchase of hardware of “off the shelf” software packages
  • Funding of online advertising campaigns

Evaluation Criteria

  1. Quality of proposal and potential impact on the business as demonstrated in the proposal – 40%
  2. Impact of proposed changes on the competitive position and viability of the company – 40%
  3. Ambition to internationalise the business – 10%
  4. Company’s financial track record – 10%
